Proudly supporting the Toronto Zoo since 1984
The Adopt an Animal program at the Toronto Zoo was established on December 12, 1984 in an effort to generate funds for habitat improvements at the former Metro Toronto Zoo. In the past 40 years since its establishment, the program has shifted to providing financial support for the Zoo's scientific research and conservation efforts aimed at safeguarding endangered species both within the Zoo, and in their natural environments.
In celebration of the programs 40th anniversary in 2024, we are excited to share that a portion of your Adopt an Animal donation now supports our Wilding Endangered Species Preservation fund. This fund provides financial support to conservation projects in the wild (“in-situ”), furthering your Toronto Zoo’s conservation impact worldwide. The remainder of your generous contribution will continue to support vital conservation efforts right here at the Zoo.
Your support is making a real difference. Thank you for joining us in protecting wildlife.
